Day 3- Lexy Dalton

Day 3 of our Icelandic saga!
Our day properly began when we arrived at Selijandafoss, a 44m waterfall, after a long drive through the incredible landscape of Iceland - the flat rocky expanses dominated by majestic snow covered mountains and volcanoes. The waterfall itself was extremely impressive but the mist of water soaked us all and made the path unfortunately very icy. After slipping and sliding behind Selijandafoss we made our way back to the bus with slightly sore bums! Next we made our way to the sólheimajökull glacier. It was nothing like I had expected. The black ash from previous eruptions contrasted starkly with the white ice. Walking on it wasn't too hard as we were thankfully wearing crampons, but we had to watch out for the deep moulins and cracks. It was simply like something from another world. My only regret  about this trip is that we still haven't seen the Northern lights yet. I've got my fingers crossed though!
